My eldest son is a genius. Seriously. He recently discovered that capsules are easier to swallow if you tilt your head forward instead of back. They float, so it makes total sense.
Maybe you have always done it that way. It was new to me.

News flash!
I wanted to remind all of you out there that the General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints is coming up. On Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1, there will be 2 hour sessions held at 10:00 and 2:00 mountain time. You can watch it on the BYU channel on TV, online at LDS.org, or just show up to one of the churches where you are welcome to sit down and enjoy.
This is a chance to sit down and listen to a prophet of God, here in your day, speak and give insight for challenges you are dealing with. It is well worth the time. I have had many a moment of inspiration during such sessions and strongly encourage you, no matter your faith, to come and be spiritually fed.
Lessons learned
I hope you aren't tired of children's books yet. I keep reading them so, if you keep reading this blog you will keep hearing about my favorites.
Today's feature was copy righted back in 1971. The pictures certainly look a bit date, but I really like the style. Let me introduce you to "The Wizard of Wallaby Wallow" by Jack Kent.
This is the story of a mouse who wants to be anything but a mouse. He visits the wizard who hands him an unlabled bottle that will change him into an unspecified animal. The more he ponders the more he realizes that being a mouse has problems, but he knows how to deal with them and wouldn't really want to tackle a new set of issues stemming from the transformation to an undecided form.
The book ends with everyone purchasing bottles without lables. When you feel down just look at that bottle on the shelf and think about what you could be and the problems that accompany that. Then you will feel better about the things you deal with.
I find this book to be so sweet, so touching, and so completely uplifting. It is a great book for gaining persepctive. If you ever come across a copy, make sure you add it to your collection.

For life
If you are unfamiliar with Terry Prachet, you should work on becoming familiar very quickly. He is the author of the Disc World series. I admit I have not read as many of them as I should have, but the ones I have read are very humorous.
Let me share one of my favorite quites with you.
"Built a man a fire and he is warm for a day. Light a man on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life."

A bit of cello
Here is a new gem that my children and I are really enjoying. It is called "Cello Wars, the Phantom Cellist."
Enjoy!

Where everyone is sleeping.
I have another children's book I would like to share with you.
This is "The Napping House" by Audrey Wood. Illustrated by Don Wood.
The illustrations are simply delightful. The story, while not terribly in depth had my 2 year old (who doesn't sit through anything, ever) sitting on my lap for 45 minutes. She just kept coming back to the faces of the different charactors and showing me how they feel about what is happening.
This is a very cute book and I would highly recommend it being added to your collection.

some love
President Thomas S. Monson said
: “Often we assume that [the people around us] must know how much we love them. But we should never assume; we should let them know. … We will never regret the kind words spoken or the affection shown. Rather, our regrets will come if such things are omitted from our relationships with those who mean the most to us.”

Kids
Kids. I have my own personal set. I love and enjoy mine more than I could ever put into words. They make my life so much richer. They make me laugh. They help me slow down. They help me see what really matters. They also help me improvise. I love my kids so much. I am so incredibly glad that I am a mom. I am so glad that it is my kisses that are magic. I am so glad my hugs are so desirable. That my company is appreciated.
To follow that up, I have a confession. I don't really like kids in general. Seriously. I know, I am awful or deficient. I just don't have that all encompassing love that some awesome people do (like my sister-in-law.) I find them stressful and messy. Loud and draining.
At least that is where I have let myself stay for a good long time. But times change. I have entered a new realm. A realm where I can no longer hide in my house and ignore everyone but my family any longer. I have shied away from having other people's children around for more than absolutely necessary for a long time. But God has a different plan for me. A plan that includes nearly every kid in the neighborhood being in my home at various points in the week. I have also been given the calling of being a nursery leader side by side with my fabulous husband.
So my life is kids. Mine. The neighbor's. My friend's, my sister's, fellow church goer's.
Ya know what? It isn't so bad. It is even fun sometimes. Oh, yea it is messier and louder than it would be without all my helpers. I am working on giving in and accepting that this is my place right now. I have been placed in a special position where I can touch the lives of children who have some needs I can help fill. Am I going to be able to fix every kid's problems? No. I can't even fix all of my own kids problems. ( When someone figures out the trick for teaching a kid which battles are worth fighting let me know! )
I am so grateful that I have been blessed to stay home with my children. I am also grateful that I can help be an anchor to those who aren't in such a fortunate circumstance.
I only hope I can live up to what God has in store. He has sent me something that is quite a challenge for me personally. But by embracing instead of fighting, it has become a whole lot less stressful and a whole lot more fun.
Right now my life is children. I hope to learn and grow here. I hope you can accept whatever he threw at you. Not only accept by the end, but love also.
Now, I am going to sit back and enjoy having a vacuumed carpet for the fleeting moment that it looks nice.

I'll make your dreams come true
My children and I were in the car listening to Caro Emerald yesterday. At one point she sang a line saying "I'll make your dreams come true." Naomi and I then had this conversation-
N: Can she really make your dreams come true?
Me: No, only you can make your dreams come true. Decide what you want and work hard for it. That is how you get there.
N: No, no mom. I mean like I have this dream about Qui Gon Gin and Tron. Can she make it come true for me?
Me:... Sorry Naomi. She can not. Sounds like it is a cool dream though....
